Yarn paradise :o))

Look at this - isnt it gorgeous???

Its a sale, 30% off all wool yarn at www.garnstudio.com....... And I just had to buy some :o)

Merino wool for babies

Red, white and blue for a Marius-sweater

Various pinks because they're so beautiful, and I want to make something for me. Any suggestions??

A new type, silk and merinowool, as soft as babyskin. I have admired all the gorgeous shawls everyone is making - now I want to make one too :o)

Brown, beige and offwhite  - also for one lucky baby ;o) (no, its not me - hahaha)

I even made a new bag for my knitting.... Actually it was meant as a nice everyday-bag, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted.

Now I have to dive into my yarn-paradise, looking for what to make :o)

I just want to say thanks to all of you for visiting and especially to those who take the time to leave me some nice words - they are truly appreciated!

Have a wonderful Sunday evening!

Some finishes

Yesterday I finished the toilet bag, with some minor changes :o)

And this is where it can be seen the coming weeks, on the cash desk in the shop.

I love making the cute makeup purses from AnnAKa, I have made some :o) Oda asked me if I could make some gifts for her friends, and of course I did! Oda chose the fabrics to use and they are the cutest ever, dont you think :o)

Hope you all have a wonderful evening!

Toilet bag and two (?) girls

In between all of my other projects, I have started a toiletbag. This is a pattern from the norwegian magazine 'myQuilt', the latest issue. Its not finished, but I like the fabrics so much I want to show you :o)

Its linen and cotton, isnt it beautiful?? I will show you the finished bag soon, it will be a model in the shop. Maybe that's the solution to finish my projects, to make models for the shop only :o)

Here are my two wonderful girls - and can you believe how alike they are?

Emilie and Oda
The picture is photoshopped, it was originally two pictures. But we saw the resemblance and thought it would be fun to have them in one photo. They are taken the same day at the same birthdayparty, actually Emilies birthday.

Have a wonderful evening!

Merry, Merry Snowmen (?)

Should it feel a bit weird making snowmen, when flowers are blooming, the trees are almost green again and the birds are singing? I dont know... But either way, the BOM packages are coming and I dont want to get behind, I really like to finish it before xmas :o) AND its a lot of fun making them. Piecing, applique, stitching - so much fun and variety.

1st block

I will use small buttons for the eyes, they will be sewn on after the quilting is done. I didnt get quite as much done on block 2 during Easter as I planned, because my DH are having an infection in his foot, and the days went by with lots of other activities - nursing/doctors/ hospital etc. But he is recovering well and will soon be on his feet again - both of them.... :o)
Beginning of block 2
The applique is meant to be done with freezepaper and needleturn, but Im not too familiar with that technique, so Im using my machine to do the applique. The only thing I have to change - I have to mirror the patterns. And of course, I didnt think of it at first, so I have some spare reindeers and a bird......

Block 1 and 2
And I have knitted a new cap for Emilie :o)

A week has already gone by, enjoy your weekend and do some sewing :o)

Fat Quarter Star

For schools and a lot of people, Easter holidays started this weekend. And this is what the weather is like in Bergen.

And I was telling you, one week ago, spring was coming - haha couldnt be more wrong :o)) But at least I have been able to make the last blocks of Fat Quarter Star QA. Or, actually I have one more block to do. I didnt like one of the blocks, so I have to find another nice star-block to make. Any suggestions??

Now Im going to frame the blocks with a thin white border and the a bigger border of the remaining FQ's, add sashing and its done :o) Maybe during Easter........

AnnAKa's new box-pattern was really nice and I wanted to try and make one or two (or three...). So I have almost finished one of them, only the handsewing remains - as you can see on the picture. Isnt that the most gorgeous fabric??

Whether you are spending Easter holidays at home or somewhere else,

HAPPY EASTER :o)

Four days off work.....

and I was going to sew until I dropped! But then, from nowhere, came blue sky and a wonderful warm sun :o) Spring is here!! I had to join Oda, get some D-vitamins in the sun.

I promised some more photos from the meeting last weekend, but then I realised that they were mostly from our booth. I was too busy to see the exhibition. But I hope you enjoy them anyway :o)

Today the 7th block of bloggers BOM was published at Cluck Cluck Sew. This was just the thing I needed to get me to the sewingroom today - and here it is

And when I were there, I started cutting the fabrics for the first block of Merry Merry Snowmen. These are all the fabrics for the first block, they are gorgeous - Rouenneries Deux from French General.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!

NQF's Annual Meeting

This weekend NQF (Norwegian Quilt Association) is having their annual meeting. And this year its in my hometown Bergen. A lot of shops from all over the country is coming to town, and there is a big 'market' at the hotel. Here is a few pictures to show you parts of our shop before the opening. Will have more pictures later!

If you are in Bergen, you should come by Hotel Norge, apart from all the shops, there is also an exhibition.

Well, now Im off to yet another exciting day - so long :o)

mandag 12. mars 2012

One more runner!

Wow, this is great - I actually started finishing the things I make :o) Two runners in a couple of weeks! I started this some time ago, but the flowers required a bit of stitching and handsewing, so it took me a while. The designer is norwegian, AnnAKa.

The colours are a bit darker than this picture
Another block in Fat Quarter Star QA. This is actually a design that I found and not the one I was supposed to make. I wasn't too thrilled with the original star.

And I made another which was a total disaster.......

And I have joined another BOM at Fat Quarter Shop called Merry Merry Snowmen. It was so cute I couldn't resist it... I haven't started it yet, but hope to soon :o)

Wishing you all a cheerful week :o)

fredag 2. mars 2012

Another two.....

Bloggers BOM blocks done! And believe it or not - I finished the last block just after it was released :o) Wow....

Block 5

Block 6
Hope you all have a relaxing friday evening :o)

Spring is on its way :o)

The last week we have had lots of rain and bad weather, but today the sun was shining, everybody was out enjoying and it really felt like spring.

This is a very popular place for kids to go and feed the birds. And also to walk the dogs, and so did we :o)

As you can see it was a bit cold, ice on the lake, but it was barely holding the ducks. If they had a little rough landing, they went through :o)

But it was not too cold for these lovely flowers to bloom!

I have also been doing some sewing, some runners I have to finish in a couple of weeks. One of them is the runner from the embroidery machine class some weeks ago. I was planning to finish it today, but when I was cutting the binding, it was not enough fabric left...

This is as far as I got. The binding is going to be the same as the frame around the embroideries. A little closer look at the blocks - they are really beautiful!

I have another runner coming up aswell, a red one - I love red :o)

Its only half way done. On both sides I will add some flowers, Im doing some stitchery on them now. I believe it will be nice in the end :o)

I will try to post more often, but I need more hours in the day.... In the shop we are busy preparing for the annual meeting in the Norwegian Quilt Association. This is my first time participating, so Im really looking forward to it :o)

Wishing you all a wonderful week :o)

søndag 12. februar 2012

This has been a good weekend :o)

The last few weeks we have been redecorating the room next to my sewing room, and that meant - no electricity or lights for me - and, as you probably already have figured out, not much time spent by the sewing machine.... But now its back to normal, and I have been sewing again :o)
First of all, I have made Oda the makeup-purse she has been promised for a while now.

I made this some time ago

And this yesterday. Can you see the difference?

I'd say they look quite the same, if I didn't know better :o) Not easy, you say? What if I put them together.

No? Maybe its the photographers fault :o) I'll tell you. The first one I made was without stabilizer on the bottom part, I simply forgot. So it just collapses when put on the table, I dont recommend to do that, much nicer with the stabilizer :o) This is a very nice purse, and it can take a lot.

I have made these two aswell, just to try the locks. I thought I hade some laces to hide the stitches at the top, but it seems I have to get me some.

Im a bit behind on the two BOM's Im in. I managed to make block 3 and 4 of Bloggers BOM - nice :o)

So all in all, it has been a productive weekend and Im very content :o)

A new week is coming, hope it will be a joyful week for all !
